My dear friends, please meet Kamariddin, a theater scholar, screenwriter, translator, TV and radio journalist, based in Tashkent. Tonight I had a great pleasure seeing a wonderful play based on short stories by Franz Kafka this brilliant person and his very small team put together. Shams-i-Qamar truly is an independent studio theater founded and run by Kamariddin, perhaps the only one in Uzbekistan, which needs both moral and financial support.
Kamariddin and I agreed that our country would not be able to flourish without independent culture, literature and art. We definitely need to use the example and experience of developed countries and push our government to accept necessary laws.
