Spiritual Chain

There’s a rebellion in my soul,
It strives to reach the sky whole.
Good times don’t warm its heart,
It’s free, untouched, and set apart.

Its zeal will break the heart,
Born from freedom’s art.
It looks up at the sky,
From the ground, it longs to fly.

Indulging my rebellious spirit,
Life’s burdens, I left and quit.
I look at nothingness, sigh,
Swallowing laughter, pained and dry.

Watching how the world spins round,
No true value have I found.
Each one earns their due price,
Heavy payment feels like vice.

To the blues, I cannot fly,
Earthly chains hold me nigh.
May God protect and keep us near,
From drifting far, in fear.
