Over the past three days, the Uzbek segment of Facebook has been full of posts of almost every single friend of mine about the award in the form of an order, badge or at least a diploma, received on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The most prominent human rights activists got an award; famous journalists and bloggers got an award; poets and writers, builders and lawyers, artists and singers, even mayors and ministers – almost everybody in the country got an award. Some of the deceased celebrities were also in the list of awardees.
How about yourself, you might ask. Of course! I was also forcedly issued an award! It is called “The First Honorary Citizen Who Rejected an Award”! However, I did not accept it anyway! Stubborn me!
Happy Independence Day, Uzbekistan – My Love!
